13/011 module: digital motopotentiometer for analog speed reference in Alter servo drives.
Scope of application
The 13/011 digital motorised potentiometer is the intelligent multifunction module designed by Alter Elettronica as an electronic evolution of the mechanical motorised potentiometer, offering superior performance for the generation of speed references or other electrical quantities. Its main function is to generate a clean and precise analogue reference signal (or a signal in "Frequency/Direction" mode, ideal for stepper motor drives) from simple digital inputs.
This device is the perfect solution for modernising electrical panels or replacing old hard-wired logic, allowing the operator or the PLC to control the machine’s speed and ramps via basic commands (such as Increment/Decrement, Stop or Emergency buttons). Thanks to the advanced management of independent programmable ramps, every mechanical action is translated into a smooth, controlled movement, eliminating mechanical jerks and wear.
Furthermore, to eliminate set-up times, the 13/011 module is fully PC-controllable: via a USB connection, it is possible to modify, view graphically in real time and save all operating parameters.
Features
Technical Specifications
Main function: Generation of an analogue reference controlled by digital inputs (digital motor potentiometer).
Additional output mode: Signal in “Frequency / Direction” (or “Step / Direction”) mode, typically used with stepper motor drives.
Output range: standard analogue excursion from 0 to +10 V, limitable to lower values; the sign can be reversed via the dedicated digital input (Value Reversal).
Supported commands (Digital inputs):
-
- INCREMENT (Increases the signal)
- DECREMENT (Decreases the signal)
- MINIMUM SPEED
- STOP (Controlled stop)
- EMERGENCY (Rapid stop)
- JOG
- EXTERNAL SPEED REFERENCE
- VALUE REVERSAL
Ramp Control: Each digital input causes the analogue output signal to vary along a ramp. The ramp slopes are separately adjustable for the commands: increase, decrease, stop, emergency, jog. (The Minimum Speed and External Speed Ref. commands use the slopes set for Increase/Decrease).
Interface and Programming: USB connection for PC. All operating parameters and ramp slopes can be modified, viewed (with graphical support) and saved on the computer.
