The 13/010 angular positioner is a multifunctional module designed by Alter Elettronica to automate and simplify the precise movement of rotating industrial components such as machine tool spindles, rotary tables and tool magazines.
In revamping and retrofit projects, programming fixed, repetitive positioning directly from an old CNC or PLC can be complex and time-consuming. The 13/010 solves this at its root: it acquires the signal from the position transducer (TTL encoder or resolver) and autonomously drives the motor to preset positions (up to 40), sending an analogue speed reference or a frequency/direction signal directly to the servo drive.
The key advantage for the integrator is the automatic bypass function: when the positioner is not active, the module becomes "transparent", connecting the CNC's analogue input directly to the drive to restore continuous speed control. This is essential where the motor must run most of the time at a variable speed controlled by the CNC — such as a spindle during turning — and needs precise positioning only at specific moments, for example during a tool change.

Position transducers that can be used:

- Resolver two-pole or multi-pole (up to 255 pole pairs), powered by the module or by an external board.
- The encoder or resolver can be mounted directly on the object to be positioned, or via a transmission ratio.
Standard analogue output: ±10 V analogue output to send the speed reference to the drive controlling the motor.
Frequency/direction output: Line-driver output of the speed signal, also in Frequency/Direction format (typically used to interface with servo drives for stepper motors).
Digital outputs to signal: positioning completed, correct operation of the module and the connected transducers.
Digital inputs for: alarm reset, positioning enable, selection of up to 4 mechanical gears with their stored parameter sets, selection of up to 40 preset positions stored in the module, and spindle lock.
