Angular positioner 13/010

Modul 13/012 Converter from EnDat Rotary to TTL Encoder

Card 13/012 for converting the EnDat rotary protocol (Heidenhain) to a TTL incremental signal. Quick zeroing.

Servoconvertitore BTD1

The 13/012 converter is Alter Elettronica’s technical solution for interfacing rotary absolute encoders operating with the EnDat 2.1 and 2.2 protocol (a standard typically found in Heidenhain systems) with standard commercial servo drives. On machine tools and in machining centres, EnDat is the benchmark standard for precision. However, it often restricts the choice of replacement drive. The 13/012 module queries the absolute position of the encoder via the synchronous bidirectional protocol and outputs the classic incremental signals in 5V TTL line driver format. This multiplies the possibilities for the maintenance engineer or system integrator, allowing for countless open-system solutions.

Technical Specifications

Input signal: from an encoder with EnDat 2.1 or 2.2 protocol

  • single-turn absolute rotary encoder with or without incremental channels.
  • multi-turn absolute rotary encoder with or without incremental channels.

Output Signals:

  • 1 x 5V TTL Incremental Encoder Line Driver output and simulated Hall sectors with user-configurable pulses per revolution
  • 1 line driver output for speed signal in frequency format (MAX 4000 kHz) / direction (Step / Direction)

Special Functions:

  • Zero Without Motion (ZWM): This function allows the "machine zero" to be performed virtually, without actually moving the mechanical axis, speeding up recovery operations following a power cut or in emergency conditions
  • Encoder Phasing: Allows the phase shift between the encoder and the motor (electrical angle) to be adjusted directly via the software or dedicated digital inputs
